'Sombras de Agua'
SEPT 13 | NOV 23
Belén Adamo Callone
Ceramist, engraver and Argentinian Artist residing in the Valencian Community, in the Marina Alta, province of Alicante, Spain. Belén investigates the diversity of natural colors of the territory where she lives. Her proposals address the plane and space. From the clay labs to the potter's wheel. Her exquisite, well-made textures are the product of firing at high temperatures. In her proposal coexist the mountains and the fired clay with matte whitish finishes. A wide and well-researched chromaticity of natural pigments from the area where she inhabits that are a faithful reflection of the recreated traces that the Mediterranean imprints on the skin of her pieces. Belén Investigates the possibilities of local raw materials: rocks, soils and clays from the mountains and coasts of the Mediterranean. Through manual grinding and sifting processes, she obtains ranges of diverse colors from the territory. Her intention, an ode to the Earth and her footprints.
César Benzi
Argentine Contemporary Ceramicist and Artist residing in Marina Alta, in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain. Caesar produces proposals that are an attempt of a "reverse conquest. From the distant Latin America, latent in his burnished surfaces, techniques created by native people to the waterproofing processes that try to inhabit this old continent. He finishes them with deep and exquisite smoked and reserves. His pieces choose the low firing atmospheres that when impregnated with smoke, enhance their color palette. This artist's ceramic approach is nothing more than an attempt to reclaim the techniques that has been suppressed like so many other things during the time of colonization about 500 years ago. A kind of synchronous implant that seeks to rescue the skins and surfaces perhaps forgotten, but constituted in this territory that humbly aims to form a kind of phenomenon of “cultural hybridization" that travels through time to germinate here and now. As an act with the simple purpose of claiming that, in reality, we are all one beyond the underlying differences.
