The series "Event Horizon" by Aleksander Prowaliński is a series of painterly afterimages created under an eyelid pressed to the limits of reality. The colourful spectacle takes place on the outskirts of a torn space-time continuum - like in the famous scene of "A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick, where the astronaut's eye accelerates infinitely until it overtakes light waves.

Recently, electrifying news has spread around the world: a "photo" of a black hole has been taken for the first time. Prowaliński creates several negatives of this impossible photography, fantasizing about the world before the light and after the light. Simple graphic patterns implode with colours, their saturation bears resemblance to laboratory samples viewed under a microscope and, at the same time, refers to cosmic iconography: the Cat's Eye Nebula,…
